The total procedure of heat exchanger network synthesis is outlined as a process synthesis problem from specification through design to final test calculations. One-pass constructional structure synthesis methods are suggested. The main items of the procedure are the preoptimization of minimum approach temperature, structure synthesis, parameter optimization, design and analysis. Illustrative results are presented.
