Process model structure simplification

Abstract

We formulate the problem of model simplification and list some important properties it should preserve. Two main types are described, acting on one and two state variables, respectively. These simplification steps can be represented as graph transformations acting on the structure graphs of the dynamic process models. The effect of the simplification transformations on the structural dynamic properties of the model is also investigated.
