Abstract

It is demonstrated that the formulation of Gibbs adsorption equation in the IUPAC recommendations (1985) [1] is oversimplified to such an extent that it could be a basis for misinterpretations. The possibility of a general and unambiguous presentation of the Gibbs equation is discussed.
