Abstract

In the article, the authors deal with the indications, diagnostic value, and examination technique of canine M-mode (Figure 1) and two-dimensional (20) echocardiography (Figure 2). Schematic illustrations taken from the relevant literature and own echocardiographic images are applied to demonstrate the various standard transducer views and 2D-echocardiographic planes (Figure 3-7). 2D-guided M-mode images are used to represent measurements with the latter technique (Figure 8-9). Literary M-mode reference values relating to body weight are given in Figure 10.
