Abstract

The ideal preparative regimen for haemopoietic stem cell transplantation of patients with malignant diseases should he capable of eradicating malignancy, have tolerable morbidity without mortality, and have sufficient immunosuppressive effect in allogeneic stem cell recipients to avoid graft rejection. The search for an ideal preparative regimen serving all three purposes described has been a major focus of most hemopoietic transplant groups over the past 25 years. This work covers the current status of preparative regimens used in hemopoietic stem cell transplantation of patients with malignancies and explores the relationship betiveen specific preparative regimens and organ toxicity.
