Preparation of hollow alumina microspheres by RF thermal plasma

Abstract

Formation of hollow alumina microspheres has been studied in RF thermal plasma conditions. Effects of plasma parameters on the properties of products have been also investigated. It was concluded that the structure and particle size of products was mainly determined by the porous nature of starting materials. The operating conditions of plasma affect the thermal history of particles and thus the rate of melting or even evaporation of them.
