Pregnancy associated α2 globulin antigen in pathological pregnancies

Abstract

Serum levels of pregnancy associated α2 globulin are related to normal placental function, being significantly decreased in pathologic pregnancies with placental destruction and prolonged pregnancies, and increased in mothers bearing large babies. The function of this protein is far from clear, but it may be immunosuppressive in action.
