Potentiometric negative electrolyte adsorption measurements on ionic surfactant micelles

Abstract

The mean activities of sodium halides were potentiometrically determined at constant halide concentration in alkyl sulfate solutions. The results were interpreted in terms of the negative adsorption of the halide ions onto the surfactant micelles. By means of the Poisson-Boltzmann theory the aggregation number and the electrical properties of the micelles were calculated from the negative adsorption measurements.
