Positron Annihilation Studies on Al203 Powders

Abstract

The sintering behaviour of two differently produced Al2O3 powders is studied by positron annihilation. The positron lifetime in the perfect lattice is found to be τc = (149 ± 2) ps, whereas for dislocations τd = (166 ± 5) ps and for structural vacancies (γ‐Al2O3), τv = (223 ± 8) ps.
