In continuation of previous work, the effects of mechanical processes and storage on the crystal structure of ointment bases were examined. It was found that stirring disturbs crystallization, while heavier mechanical treatment (shearing) causes breakdown of the structure. During storage periods the crystal structure noted after preparation of the base or after the shearing process became finer and the details more clearly differentiated.
