Abstract

The present paper summarizes in detail various relativistic effects related, some loosely, some closely, to the Dewan-Beran paradox. The aim of the paper is to deepen students' understanding of the surprising properties of flat spacetime in a way that is enjoyable and easily accessible at the undergraduate level. The paper relies heavily on spacetime diagrams, a useful tool to visualize and understand relativistic phenomena.
