Abstract

The review summarizes results of geophysical research about upper mantle physics, especially about the asthenosphere being a low velocity (determined by seismology) and at the same time electrically conducting layer (determined by magnetotellurics). The regional variation of the parameters of the asthenosphere in dependence of geothermal relations is discussed in detail with examples from the Pannonian basin and its surroundings. -Author
