Phase diagram of the one-dimensional t-J-V model

Abstract

A cluster variational method is used to study the ground state properties of the one-dimensional t - J - V model, where V is the coupling constant of the density-density interaction term. The phase diagram of this extended model is determined for -2.0 ≤ V J ≤ 0.3. From the electron concentration dependence of the ground state energy, we determine the thermodynamic boundary where segregation into an electron-rich, and purely hole phase sets in. For increasing V the phase separation region is strongly diminished while the hole-hole pair formation region is increased.
