Abstract

The transfer free energy and entropy of nitroalkanes from n-octane to water are calculated. It is assumed that the electrostatic interaction of nitroalkanes with solvents depends mostly on the dipole moment and the size of minus C minus NO//2 group and the chain length has only a slight effect.
