Abstract

The efficacy of a CO 2 liberating rectal suppository was examined for preparation in case of 147 parturients enrolled for vaginal delivery and as a praeoperative preparation in case of 66 patients scheduled for gynaecological operations. Efficacy of the suppositories was similar to the conventional methods (enema), however the compliance, time consumption and safety was better as compared to the conventional methods.
