Abstract

Orthoreoviruses are important pathogens of reptiles, birds and mammals. The spectrum of diseases they cause is diverse, although their pathogenic nature has not been proven in each case. The zoonotic potential of orthoreoviruses may be a public health and veterinary concern. In this review the authors summarize the host range and the disease associations of orthoreoviruses with special attention to the newest literature data.
