Optimized operation of short-pulse KrF amplifiers by off-axis amplification

Abstract

A three-pass off-axis amplification scheme for subpicosecond pulses, producing 20 mJ output energy in a 20×22 mm2 beam, with 106 energy contrast ratio is reported for a commercial excimer gain module. Calculations are performed showing this scheme capable of tailoring discharge-pumped gain modules to the needs of efficient short-pulse amplifications for a wide range of input energies.
