Optimization of container quay cranes operations

Abstract

Because of the large increase of volume of container cargo in the global material flows there is an emerging need for improvement and optimization of container handling operations. This paper presents optimization of some aspects of container quay cranes operations. Cycle time depends not only from the technical parameters of the reloading equipment, but also from machine scheduling and service methods. One way of improving container crane reloading performances is trough application of double cycling.
