Abstract

Scheduling of generating units for preventive maintenance plays an important role in the economical and reliable operation of power systems. Based on the observation, the maintenance scheduling of generating units and the makespan minimization on parallel machines are equivalent problems; effective approximation algorithms are presented using local search and constructive methods.
