Optical absorption spectra of chromium-doped paratellurite (αTeO2:Cr) are presented and interpreted in terms of octahedral complexes of Cr3+. Optimized parameters for this system are Dq=1540 cm-1, B=650cm-1, and C=2810 cm-1.
