In this paper, our experiences regarding oocyte freezing are summarized. These results are the first successes achieved with oocyte freezing in Hungary. The data in connection with pregnancies of the first 'frozen-oocyte' babies are briefly summarized after these babies having been born, including data of a few ongoing pregnancies as well. Up to date, embryos of frozen oocyte origin were transferred into 25 patients and altogether 6 pregnancies were achieved (3 babies have already been born). The efficacy of the procedure is still low, which prevents the introduction of this method into the wide clinical practice. However, the results of other groups as well as ours indicate that oocyte freezing technique had come to a stage efficient enough, where - under special circumstances - it could be recommended to be used eg. in oncological patients prior to chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy, and in religious patients who do not want to have frozen embryos, etc.
