Single- and double-K-shell vacancy configurations in atomic Li, produced by 95 MeV/u Ar18+, were studied from measurements of the resulting K-shell Auger deexcitation spectra. The spectra were recorded in high resolution and measurements were carried out for several electron emission angles. The role and extent of the electron-electron interaction in producing the two K-shell vacancies were clarified.
