Abstract

In 1984 two space probes are being launched in the framework of the VEGA project in order to make scientific observations of the Venus and Halley's comet. The probe includes a platform which is capable of rotating around two mutually perpendicular axes. On this platform a TV-system will be situated. The present article describes the software of the on-board TV-system. The main tasks of the software are: a) to find and locate the comet, b) to follow the comet with the TV-system (i. e. to guide the optical axis of the TV-system towards the comet), c) to take scientific pictures, d) to transmit the scientific information to the Earth.
