Abstract

The unmanned operation of machine tools in manufacturing systems requires the integration of special purpose monitoring equipment. In addition to multiprocessor-based hardware, a homogeneous systems concept and software interfaces are needed. In this paper, pattern recognition methods in general purpose monitoring systems for complex monitoring tasks are suggested. Following a brief survey of the available learning procedures, a realized on-line monitoring system with pattern recognition facilities and some results are presented.
