Abstract

In the experiment of Bartha and Hangos the transport of W-185 tracer from the wall to the filament of a halogen lamp is observed. The experiment is analyzed in terms of a quasi-stationary diffusion model. The most important qualitative aspects of the phenomenon are satisfactorily described by the model. However, the inclusion of convection effects seems necessary for making the agreement with the experiment quantitative.
