On the role of the cross-section normalization in the conclusions drawn from the coupled-channel collective model analysis of the inelastic scattering experiments

Abstract

Conclusions drawn from the inelastic scattering experiments were examined in order to learn about their sensitivity to the slight errors of the absolute normalization of the analysed cross-sections while keeping the elastic-inelastic relative normalization constant. The analysis has shown that the conclusions on the collective properties of the target nucleus gained by the method of the coupled-channel do not critically depend on the accurate determination of the absolute cross-section.
