On the composition of the surface sites on Pt catalyst

Abstract

Hydrocarbon coverage and the number of surface Pt atoms available for H2-O2 titration on a working Pt black have been investigated in the reaction of n-hexane/H2/He mixtures. The effect of the partial pressure of hydrogen is discussed. It is concluded that the surface centres catalyzing individual reaction routes are formed upon interaction of the reactants with the surface.
