Numerical renormalization study of a tunneling atom with Kondo spin

Abstract

We report a numerical renormalization group study of a tunneling Kondo impurity. We compute the finite-size spectrum and spin spectral function as a function of tunneling distance. For specific values of the tunneling distance a two-channel Kondo behavior is found in the spin channel. The possibility of experimental observation of this behavior is discussed.
