Nucleoside triphosphatase activity in induced mammary tumours in rats

Abstract

Activity of Mg++ dependent ATPase and UTPase was studied in DMBA-induced primary and transplanted rat breast tumours. It has been ascertained that ATPase and UTPase activity could be demonstrated on all cell surfaces of primary tumours. In the transplanted tumours ATPase activity was considerably reduced, while UTPase activity could be demonstrated invariably. The changes of this enzyme activity as well as the correlation between the degree of differentiation of primary and transplanted tumours is discussed.
