Nuclear Excitation involving Inner-Shell Electrons

Abstract

The experimental and theoretical studies on nuclear excitation involving atomic electrons are described. Several processes, such as nuclear excitation by electron transition, nuclear excitation by free-electron capture, nuclear excitation by target electron capture in ion-atom collisions, nonresonant photoexcitation, and nuclear excitation by positron annihilation, are discussed.
