Abstract

Fatigue analysis of frames and bodies, prediction of service life statistics and search for new structures in the design process of commercial vehicles receives a growing attention of research activity, and focuses also on the mathematic modelling related to these problems. Mathematical models of vehicles can also be directly used in structural analysis, in studying the operational circumstances like the effects of pay-load, road surface roughness and traveling speeds. In this paper we consider the modelling problem for dynamic analysis of road vehicles due to excitation of stochastic road surface roughness. The structure of a vehicle is considered as a distributed parameter system excited by the stochastic road profile through the wheels and axles.
