NMR study of the boron coordination in Ni100-xBx metallic glasses

Abstract

11B NMR in glassy Ni100-xBx (18.5 ≤ x ≤ 40) and in related crystalline nickel borides suggests that the local structure around B atoms in the amorphous system interpolates between crystalline Ni3B and Ni4B3-like structures (both based on nickel trigonal prisms). The axial environment of B in crystalline Ni2B has not been observed in the amorphous modification.
