Abstract

A new UHV instrument and measuring control system has been designed and built for angle resolved electron spectroscopy of gaseous and solid samples. The novel, 'distorted field' electrostatic analyzer built into the system, is applicable for the analysis of energy and angular distribution of UV excited photoelectrons, electron beam excited Auger-electrons and electrons coming from interactions between molecules and metastable atoms, in a wide electron energy range (up to 15 kev). The modular construction of the spectrometer makes possible its applicability also for coincidence (e, 2e) electron spectroscopy.
