New DC-DC resonant converter as active filter

Abstract

The paper is concerned with the application of a resonant DC-DC converter as a low pass active filter. The converter is a member of a rather new converter family. A short summary of the operation and that of the quantitative relations of the new converter family are presented. To prepare the discussion of the resonant buck converter as active filter its asymmetrical state is studied by two phase symmetrical components. The operation of the buck converter as a low pass active filter applying both commutation angle and switching frequency modulation control are discussed somewhat in detail. Laboratory test results are included.
