New chloro- and trifluoroacetato tricarbonylrhenium(I) complexes with a N,N′-bis(benzophenone)-1,2-diiminoethane Schiff base ligand: Spectral and structural studies

Abstract

The reaction of Re(CO)5Cl with the chelating ligand N,N′-bis(benzophenone)-1,2-diiminoethane (bz2en) afforded the neutral fac-[Re(CO)3(bz2en)Cl]. The subsequent reaction with AgOCOCF3 gave fac-[Re(CO)3(bz2en)OCOCF3]. Their pseudooctahedral fac structures have been established by FTIR, UV-Vis, 1H, 13C NMR and have been confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis. The electrochemical behaviour of the investigated complexes has been studied by cyclic voltammetry.
