New AMT data of the Gailtaler Alps

Abstract

AMT profiles Gail I and II were measured at 12 frequencies at 20 sounding sites in the Gailtaler Alps (Drau Range) to study the resistivity distribution in the so-called 'Altkristallin' and in the Permomesozoic dolomites. The 2D inversions show separated conducting dikes (graphitic schist blocks) embedded into the 'Altkristallin' outcropping both in the southern and northern side of the highly resistive dolomites of the Drau Range. The model helps the understanding of the structure of the much deeper Transdanubian conductivity anomaly in W-Hungary in the same Bakony-Drauzug geological unit including the Periadriatic lineament as a continent-continent collision zone.
