Neutron beam depth. Dose dosimetry in a water phantom using an ionization chamber and SSNTDs

Abstract

A model collimator was constructed to be used in one of the horizontal beam lines of the MGC type compact cyclotron at ATOMKI established for producing intense fast neutron beams for radiological and oncological research. The dose rate distributions were mapped with ionization chambers. Solid state nuclear track detectors (SSNTD) were also used in this preliminary study. LR-115 II and MA-ND/α types were used and a spatial resolution better than by ionization chambers was obtained after a very short irradiation time.
