Multielectron excitation in XAFS on Br in organic solvents

High-quality X-ray absorption spectra near the K-edge of Br in organic solvents have been observed using synchrotron radiation. Several structures assigned to multielectron excitations are detected in the liquid phase. They are analyzed by the use of the shakeup and shakeoff probabilities including their dependence on the photon energy. An additional absorption edge is found between [1s3p] and [1s3d] double electron excitation. The possible assignment for this absorption edge is discussed.
