Morphology and properties of β-nucleated injection molded isotactic polypropylene

Abstract

An effective β-nucleating agent was added to different grades of isotactic propylene homopolymers (iPP). The β-nucleated form of these commercial iPPs were injection molded under different conditions. The effect of the viscosity and injection speed on the supermolecular, lamellar and skin-core structure was comprehensively described here. Relation of mechanical properties and polymorphic composition was studied in order to have a better understanding of the differences in deformation character of α- and β-iPP.
