Morphological Investigation of Chemically Treated Poly(ethylene terephthalate)-Based Activated Carbons

Abstract

Morphology of chemically treated poly(ethylene terephthalate)-based activated carbon was studied. Low-temperature nitrogen adsorption and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) were applied. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was also used to study the surface below the micron scale. The results show that the separation distance expands from 19 to 27 Å when carbon is in contact with hexane.
