Monopoles and grand unification theories

Abstract

A method for constructing static extended monopole solutions in the grand unification theories is shortly described. SU(N) S(U(p) × U(q)) static finite energy monopole solutions are presented. The homotopy theory derivation of the charge quantization is given for these solutions.
