Abstract

The inheritance of a higher degree of sensitivity of Bantam domestic. fowl to TSH compared with the inheritance of body weight was studied in F1 and in Bantam × F1 crosses with a middle-weight breed Naked Neck Transylvanian. The degree of sensitivity to TSH proved to be of a genetic nature and to be inherited independently of the body weight. This trait was determined by one gene, a dominant allele of which can be found in Bantams and a recessive one in the Naked Neck Transylvanian breed. The phenotypic expression was scarcely affected by a goitrogen, the season, or the sex.
