Abstract

A procedure for calculating the stress level intersection numbers for a given model of a bus frame operating in a steady-state mode is presented. Comparison of the calculated results with previous experimental data shows that the proposed method of computation given an accurate approximation of physical reality. Knowledge of the stress level intersection numbers permits designers to establish which vehicle components are prone to fatigue failure.
