Modeling of misfit dislocations of Nb/Al2O3 interfaces

In this paper we present computer simulations of a model (111)|(0001) niobiumsapphire interface, for different misfits and different interfacial bonding strengths. Two different structures with different distribution of misfit dislocations were found for this interface, depending on the bonding strength applied. A simple energy driven geometrical transition is proposed between the two structures.
