Abstract

An environmental isotope study of groundwater provided by the waterworks of Zalaegerszeg reveals that originally very old groundwater has received additional recharge from shallow contaminated groundwater. This mixing can be detected only from tritium, δ18O and 14C data, while NO3, the main pollutant of the shallow groundwater, is filtered by the aquifer. -from Authors
