Abstract

Microorganisms living in aqueous environment and the structure of biofilm are described. Fe, Cu and CuZn58 probes were tested in the culture medium ATCC 1249 inoculated with sulphate-reducing bacteria. Potentiostatic polarization was used for corrosion measurement and the pH was also examined. The corrosion rate was estimated by polarization resistance. The pH of culture medium increased with the growth of bacterium culture. Referring to the result of tests performed, copper is offered as structural material in water system.
