Method for the reliable quantitative analysis by diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy

Abstract

In this paper a method for the reliable quantitative analysis of individual inorganic phases of solid samples by diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) is described. It is shown that with reproducible sample preparation and decrease of the random and systematic errors the precision and the accuracy of the analysis reach those of the transmission IR technique. The method has been applied for the determination of quartz and calcite in atmospheric aerosols and clinoptilolite in natural zeolite rocks.
