Metal ad-atoms as accelerators of metal corrosion

Abstract

The effects of ad-atoms on the corrosion of the substrate metal were studied. It has been found that copper on Pd surface in the presence of Cl- ion traces accelerates the corrosion of Pd. A similar effect was experienced in the case of Au ad-atoms on Pt surface.
