A numerical model of the melting of small particles entered in a free DC plasma jet was studied to predict the optimal parameters of plasma spraying. The equation of motion for the solid/liquid interface inside a particle passing through a plasma jet was determined and its numerical solution was given in some special cases. The strong temperature and velocity variation inside the plasma jet and the temperature dependence of the plasma parameters were taken into account.
