The (n, t) cross sections were determined for 27Al, 58Ni, 55Mn, 59Co, 93Nb and 209Bi at around 14 MeV by the tritium β-counting and γ-spectrometric methods. The excitation functions for the (n, 2n), (n, p), (n, α) and (n, t) reactions in the case of 27Al, 32S, 55Mn, 58Ni and 59Co have been calculated using the Hauser-Feshbach model. The good agreement between the measured and calculated σ n,t values indicates that the (n, t) reaction can be well described by the statistical model. For odd nuclei the σn, t data are higher by a factor of about 10 than for even ones, which can be explained by the differences in the Q-values.
